The PAL (Parents As Leaders ) Empowerment Program
The Norwich PAL Empowerment Program offers:
Positive parenting education
Guidance for women to make healthier life choices.
PAL also offers a Children’s Clothing closet, free of charge, to assist families in accessing seasonal appropriate clothing for their children.
Staff facilitate supportive mentoring on site or in home. Educating woman on appropriate and more effective ways to discipline children reduces the incidence of child abuse and neglect and helps reduce the strain on child welfare services.
Providing support empowers and encourages woman to utilize all the resources available to create safe, healthy living environments for their children and themselves.
Empowering Woman to value themselves, create positive changes in their lives, build healthy relationships, and draw on individual strengths.
Mothers & Babies Perinatal Network conducts this work through the Norwich PAL Empowerment Program (The PAL Center) via one-on-one mentoring, provision of life skill and stress management activities, education on healthy relationships and parenting skills, individualized guidance and problem solving, and by providing social support. Our work of providing support to pregnant and parenting women empowers and encourages them to utilize all the resources available to create safe, healthy living environments for their children and themselves.
